The Opportunity

Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) provides Sustainment Support for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) fleet of P-8A Poseidon aircraft. The program has an integrated Commonwealth and contractor workforce, led by Boeing Defence Australia, and is currently seeking applications for the role of Project Coordinator. This role is located at RAAF Base Edinburgh, outside the city of Adelaide.

The successful applicant will be required to have project management knowledge and understand what is required to execute and deliver successful projects. The Project Coordinator will possess a high level of communication and negotiations skills to facilitate open interaction between the customer, customer support teams, and key internal and external stakeholders. These underlying skills will be necessary to ensure the provision of timely reports, project status and change information to project teams.

As a member of the P-8A Poseidon Sustainment Program team, this role is integral to the successful program management of the services delivered to the customer. Responsible for providing direct support to the Program Management Office ensuring project management disciplines are adhered to and contracted deliverable are achieved.


Key skills and attributes will include a range of the following:

  • Coordination, reporting and direct support to project team and customer
  • Analytical skills and ability to collect, organise, synthesise and analyse data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources.

  • Knowledge of Project Management theory, concepts and principles (e.g. theory of constraints, critical path methodology, project risk management, project scope management, project management lifecycle etc.) contained in the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK[R] Guide).

  • Knowledge of project planning principles and techniques to achieve desired outcomes on budget and on plan.

  • Ability to define, design and plan projects, achieve project deliverables, and optimise the contributions of internal and external resources.

  • Ability to support, lead, and delegate the project team's responsibilities and tasks through all stages of the project life cycle.

To be successful you will have:

  • 5+ years' experience in a similar role

  • A genuine interest in support and coordination

  • Intermediate to advanced MS Suite and Visio skills and experience

  • Exposure to performance reporting and metrics

  • Ability to effectively communicate and network across all levels of our business

  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team to meet deliverable requirements

  • Ability to problem solve, provide critical thinking and adapt easily to fast changing situations

  • Working exceptionally well in a team environment with outstanding interpersonal skills;

  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen and hold, or have ability to obtain, an Australian defence security clearance to Negative Vetting 1 level.
